Cougars Can't Keep Pace With Trinity, 74-47

Brunswick, Maine – Trinity (Conn.) forced 28 turnovers and held Clark University to 31 percent shooting and the Bantams rolled to a convincing 74-47 win over the Cougars in the nightcap of the Bowdoin College Classic on Sunday afternoon.

Clark, which has now lost three straight games and seven of their last eight, slips to 2-8 on the year, while Trinity improves to 8-3. The Cougars will wrap up play in the Classic on Monday with a matchup against Bowdoin, who defeated Wellesley 71-39 in the day's first contest.

The Bantams led by as many as 33 in the contest as they collected 15 steals, handed out 17 assists and outrebounded Clark 47-42 on the glass.

Trinity had a 39-25 halftime lead and put the game away with a 20-7 run over the first seven minutes of the second half as both Michelle Royals and Carly Napier each had seven points during the scoring spree.

Once the lead ballooned to 27 at 59-32, Clark never got closer than 24 again, as the Bantams held the Cougars to 30 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes.

Napier came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points (7-for-11 field goals) in just 14 minutes, while Royals posted 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in 21 minutes.

Clark was paced by freshman Megan Grondin (Cumberland, Maine) who finished with 12 points. No other Cougar reached double figures.
