Box Score Worcester, Mass. – Clark University and visiting Wellesley College played to a weather-shortened 0-0 tie in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
The game, which began with a light drizzle, eventually morphed into a scene that became unsafe to continue play in the game's 71st minute as heavy snow blanketed the field.
Clark had the game's best scoring chance when the snow began to pick up its intensity. Hannah Moriarty (Millbury, Mass.) fired a shot from just outside the box that Wellesley netminder S.J. Gray (Montclair, Va.) was able to deflect over the top of the crossbar at the 61:42.
Gray made six saves in goal for the Blue (4-10-5, 3-5-1 NEWMAC) who will open up NEWMAC Tournament play as the No. 6 seed against third-seeded MIT on Tuesday.
The Cougars (6-8-3, 4-3-2 NEWMAC), meanwhile, will continue their season on Tuesday as well with a NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup as the No. 5 seed. They will travel to No. 4 Babson to take on a Beaver squad that has an 11-4-2 ledger. The start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Prior to the contest, Clark honored its four seniors – Audrey Eisemann (Worcester, Mass.), Sara Conway (Lynn, Mass.), Julia Hubbell (Cambridge, Mass.) and Erin Peete (Clinton, Mass.) who played in their final home game at Granger Soccer Field.
