Clinton, N.Y. – Senior D.J. Bailey (Palmer, Mass.) led four Clark players in double figures with 15 points and the Cougars advanced to the championship game of the Hamilton College Tip-Off Tournament with a convincing 86-70 win over SUNYIT on Friday evening at Scott Field House.

Clark (1-1) was excellent on the offensive in the win over the Wildcats, shooting 49 percent from the field and had 20 assists attached to their 27 made baskets. Nine of those helpers came from senior Drew Billington (Fairfield, Conn.) who committed just two turnovers in his 25 minutes of action.

Bailey, meanwhile, shot 7-for-9 from the floor and had four rebounds in just 11 minutes before fouling out.

The Cougars came out firing, racing out to a double digit advantage less than six minutes into the game and never looked back, building their lead to as many as 28 midway through the second half.

Both Brian Vayda (Sturbridge, Mass.) and Tucker Esborn (Branford, Conn.) had 12 points, while Mitch Renshaw (Rutland, Mass.) came off the bench to register 13 points and grab eight boards in 16 minutes.

Derek Rowe paced the SUNYIT (0-1) attack with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Yhashin White ended with 18 points and six steals.

Clark will face tournament host, Hamilton in the event's championship game scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The Continentals knocked off Bridgewater State 69-66 on a last second three-pointer in the nightcap.
