No. 16 Mules Controls Interior In 79-57 Win

Waltham, Mass. – The 16th ranked Colby College women's basketball team rolled to a convincing 79-57 win over Clark University in the opening round of the Brandeis Invitational on Saturday evening.

The win for the Mules is the first for new head coach Julie Veilleux, as her squad dominated the interior in the victory.

Colby had four starters reach double figures and controlled the glass, outrebounding the Cougars, 59-28.

Leading the way for the Mules was the senior tandem of Rachael Mack and Jill Vaughan. Mack finished with a game-high 20 points, hitting 8-of-18 from the floor, with nine rebounds, while Vaughan recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards.

Also reaching double figures were senior guard Aarika Ritchie, who had 12 points and junior guard Jacky McLaughlin who finished with 10.

Kate Minister (Manchester, England) led the Clark offensive attack with 19 points in just 24 minutes off the bench.

Megan Grondin (Cumberland, Maine) recorded 15 points and classmate Emily Reilly (Marlborough, Mass.) had 12 points and led Clark with two assists.

The Cougars will face Endicott on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the tournament's consolation game.
