Weymouth, Mass. – Visiting Clark University picked up its first win of the season with an impressive 7-2 victory over Emerson College in non-league men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at The Weymouth Club.
With the win, Clark improves to 1-5 on the season, while Emerson remains winless at 0-4.
Sophomore Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) continued his impressive season, extending his personal winning streak to four straight matches with a straight set win over the Lion's Ken Nikravesh, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1.
The Cougars also got straight set victories over Aaron Chin (Hong Kong, China) at No. 3 (6-3, 6-4), Dan Hall (Sutton, Mass.) at No. 4 (6-3, 6-4) and Nathan Maltais (Seabrook, N.H.) at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).
Dan Paradee (Gardiner, Maine) had the day's most interesting match with a three set win at No. 5 over Emerson's Michael Nourie. He took the first set with ease, 6-0, but then dropped the second, 7-5. He finally took the match with a marathon third set 10-6 win.
Clark won two of three doubles matches with Angel teaming with Harris Rollinger (Lexington, Mass.) to take down Nikravesh and Mitch Lance, 9-8.
Chin and Hall combined for the win at No. 2 doubles over the Lions' Dan Lapidus and Will Abeles, 9-7.
Clark will return to the courts on Saturday with a scheduled 1:00 p.m. match with Rhode Island College.
