Reilly Leads Charge Past Lyons, 65-52

Worcester, Mass. – Host Clark got 20 points, six rebounds and six assists from sophomore Emily Reilly (Marlboro, Mass.) and the Cougars won their fourth straight contest, 65-52 over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action.

The Cougars improve to 14-6 overall and 10-3 in league play, while the Lyons slip to 3-16 and 1-11 in conference action.

Clark shot 44 percent from the field in the game, including 50 percent in the opening stanza. They led by as many 20 in the first half before settling for a comfortable 38-20 halftime edge.

Mount Holyoke made several charges to get back into the game, whittling the lead down to ten at 57-47 with 3:10 left on a Jasmine Brown (Enfield, Conn.) free throw.

After a few empty possessions by both teams Ashleigh Condon (Hull, Mass.) sank a tough jumper with 1:40 left and then the Cougars made six straight free throws in the final minute to put the game away.

In addition to Reilly's outstanding all-around performance, Condon finished with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists and Megan Grondin (Cumberland, Maine) added 14 of her own on 6-for-12 shooting.

Tricia Chase (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led the Lyon attack with 14 points and six rebounds, while Angelica Pascual (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points. Freshman Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass.) totaled nine points a game-high 12 rebounds.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday when Mount Holyoke hosts MIT and the Cougars visit Wellesley.
