Box Score 2 Newport, R.I. – Clark University won both of its contests – including a huge upset of host Salve Regina - and the Cougars snapped its three match losing streak and improved to 9-11 on Saturday afternoon at SRU's Rodgers Center.

The Cougars were in total control from the start, posting the 3-0 win by scores of 25-7, 25-6 and 25-8 over the 3-11 Buccaneers.
Clark hit a season-high .400 in the victory and racked up 25 service aces, including five each from Savannah Sanford (San Anselmo, Calif.) and Courtney Pharr (Seattle, Wash.).
Sanford added a match-best five kills on just seven swings, while Shannon Glass-Smythe (Albuquerque, N.M.), Hannah Fox (Dracut, Mass.) and Kat Kowalski (Middleboro, Mass.) all had three kills each.
Tori Whitney (Sunderland, Mass.) handed out 11 assists to lead the Cougar passing attack and Rachel Spera (North Hollywood, Calif.) added ten of her own.

Powered by one of the most impressive performances in recent memory, the Cougars snapped the Seahawks (19-2) ten match winning streak with a 3-1 victory by scores of 25-22, 25-12, 23-25 and 26-24.
The win for Clark also ends Salve Regina's 11-match home winning streak that dated back to last season.
Glass-Smythe was fantastic, totaling a rare 20-20 double-double, finishing with career-highs in kills (25) and digs (22).
Spera meanwhile, was on her game, handing out 54 assists to go along with 12 digs – her third career contest with 50 more assists. Ironically, two of those 50-assist outings have come against the Seahawks.
In addition to Glass-Smythe and Spera, Clark got career bests from both Pharr (14 kills) and Sanford (ten kills), while Anne Read (Arundel, Maine) had ten kills of her own and five block assists.
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Wellesley for a meeting with the Blue - a team that already has 20 wins and has won five of its six league matches in three sets.
