Box Score 2 Worcester, Mass. – Amherst College won both of its contests by 3-0 scores and the Lord Jeffs improved to 16-5 on the season with wins over Simmons College and host Clark University on Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.
Game No. 1: Clark 3, Simmons College 1
In the opening match of the day, the Sharks won the first game, 25-20, before the Cougars ran off three straight to take the match by scores of 25-9, 25-20 and finally, 25-22.
Shannon Glass-Smythe (Albuquerque, N.M.) collected a match-high 15 kills and five digs in the victory, while Savannah Sanford (San Anselmo, Calif.) added ten of her own as the Cougars hit .252 for the match.
Rachel Spera (North Hollywood, Calif.) handed out 34 assists for Clark, while Anne Read (Arundel, Maine) totaled seven kills on .455 hitting.
Rossi Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Nicole Alberghini (Northboro, Mass.) each ended with a team-high eight kills for Simmons and Morgan Kieon (North Attleboro, Mass.) collected 17 assists.
Game No. 2: Amherst 3, Simmons 0
The Lord Jeffs breezed to an easy 3-0 win with game scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-12. Nicole Gould (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) was dominant in the contest, collecting a match-high 11 kills on a sizzling.769 hitting.
In addition to Gould's huge outing, Maggie Danner (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Lauren Antion (Los Angeles, Calif.) combined for 15 kills as Amherst hit .307 as a team.
The Lord Jeffs were excellent on the serve, recording 11 service aces, with Antion and Nicole Carter (Irvine, Calif.) each posting three.
Rossi Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Megan Chamberlain (Milford, Mass.) led the way for the Sharks (8-21) in the match with four kills apiece.
Game No. 3: Amherst 3, Clark 0
Amherst (16-5) completed the afternoon sweep with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-21 win over the host Cougars (10-13).
Maggie Danner (Newport Beach, Calif.) registered 13 kills on .522 hitting for the Jeffs, while Lauren Antion (Los Angeles, Calif.) tacked on ten of her own.
Nicole Carter (Irvine, Calif.) had a strong showing for Amherst, totaling 29 assists and seven digs and Katie Warshaw (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) chipped in with 15 digs.
Clark was paced offensively by Savonnah Rowe (New York, N.Y.), who tallied seven kills, while Anne Read (Arundel, Maine) had five of her own.
Rachel Spera (North Hollywood, Calif.) dished out 21 assists and Savannah Sanford (San Anselmo, Calif.) had a team-best 11 digs.
