Box Score Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Clark University snapped its six-match losing streak with a resounding 4-0 win over Elms College in non-league women's soccer action on Thursday evening at Leary Field.
With the win, the Cougars move to 3-7 in advance of Tuesday's crucial New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup with Mount Holyoke.
The four goals for the Scarlet and White equal a season-high set in the 2013 opener against Wentworth back on August 30.
Janelle Pasternack (North Brookfield, Mass.) led the Clark offensive attack with two goals, while Charlotte Mays (Melrose, Mass.) had a goal and an assist and Emily Braun (Irvington, N.Y.) handed out a pair of assists.
Pasternack got Clark on the board at the 35:29 mark when she took a feed from Braun and made the score 1-0.
30 seconds into the second half, Mays fed Pasternack for her second tally of the night and fourth of the season.
Things stayed that way until the 75th minute when Mays finished off of a Braun ball into the box, making the score 3-0.
Afra Danai (Amherst, Mass.) and Emma Lynch (Pawtucket, R.I.) connected for Lynch's second marker of the season at 87:29.
Clark held a 19-12 advantage in shots and a small 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md.) made seven stops in net to record her second shutout of the season.
The Cougars much-anticipated meeting with the Lyons on Tuesday kicks off at 6:00 p.m.
