Cougar Nine Blanked By Bearcats, 14-0

Auburndale, Fla. – For the third consecutive contest, a starting pitcher was dominant against Clark University, this time it was Saint Vincent's Gary Gerhardt who shut down the Cougar offense in a 14-0 Bearcat victory over Clark on Friday morning.

Gerhardt tossed eight extremely effective innings, allowing just five hits while walking none and striking out eight.

The loss for the Cougars is their fifth straight and their record now sits at 2-6 with two games remaining on their spring break schedule.

Freshman Michael Eglow (Delmar, N.Y.) led the Clark attack, registering three of their five hits from his leadoff spot.

The Cougars committed six errors leading to six unearned runs, including three combined in the sixth and seventh innings when Saint Vincent's scored nine runs.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and then tacked on two more in the second on a two-run blast by Brad Burkardt, who finished 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Miles Sheehan (Madison, Conn.) took the loss for the Cougars going 5.2 innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs only three of which were earned.

Clark returns to the diamond on Saturday with a doubleheader against Lesley University beginning at 11:00 a.m.
