Box Score Providence, R.I.- Led by senior setter Rachel Spera (North Hollywood, Calif.) who racked up 27 assists, visiting Clark University rolled to their fourth consecutive win with a 3-0 victory over Rhode Island College on Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Rhode Island College Recreation Center.
Freshman outside hitter Savannah Sanford (San Anselmo, Calif.) chalked up eight kills, eight digs and five service aces for the Cougars who have won three of the four matches during their winning streak by 3-0 scores.
The Scarlet and White took the first set, 25-7, before holding off the Anchorwomen in a tightly contested second set, 25-17. The visitors put RIC away in the third set, 25-15.
Sophomore setter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, R.I.) handed out 18 assists in the loss to go along with five digs, while sophomore outside hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, R.I.) totaled four kills and six digs.
Aside from solid performances from Spera and Sanford, freshman libero Mia Cattaneo (Santa Barbara, Calif.) registered nine digs and two aces for the Cougars, while sophomore middle blocker Anne Read (Arundel, Maine) recorded seven kills and a match-high three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Shannon Glass-Smythe (Albuquerque, N.M.) added six digs, five kills and three aces in the win.
Clark will play four matches over the weekend, beginning with matches against Western Connecticut State and Trinity College on Friday.
