Box Score Springfield, Mass. – Visiting Clark University erupted for a season-high six goals and the Cougars won their second straight game with a resounding 6-1 victory over Western New England University on Thursday evening at Golden Bear Stadium.
Senior captain Talia Fish (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the catalyst for the second straight contest, recording a pair of goals and an assist as Clark improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Golden Bears, meanwhile, have lost five consecutive games to fall to 1-7.
Maria Manning (Manchester, N.H.) setup Fish for the game's first goal less than five minutes into the contest, giving the Cougars an early 1-0 lead.
Western New England evened the contest in the 14th minute when Jaynie Mueller scored off of a penalty stroke.
Clark went ahead for good a little more than three minutes later when Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) found Lauren Mackey (Dublin, N.H.) for the freshman's team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Murphy was at it again early in the second half as she connected with Zoe LaFrance-Armstrong (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) for her collegiate goal, making the score 3-1.
A little more than two minutes later, Fish helped Kelly Hart (Oak Park, Ill.) find the back of the cage and then LaFrance-Armstrong assisted on the first goal of the year for Christabelle Kozlik (Emigrant, Mont.).
Fish wrapped up the scoring in the 65th minute with an unassisted tally, making the final score 6-1.
Clark held a slim 9-6 edge in shots and Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.) made three stops to record her fifth win of the season.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Regis College for an early 11:00 a.m. start.
