Box Score Worcester, Mass. - Brooke Brennan (Weston, Mass.) logged 20 points to pace all scorers as Clark defeated Becker, 80-20, in the nightcap of the Worcester City Women's Basketball Tournament hosted by WPI on Saturday night.
The Cougars (1-0), the two-time defending champions, advance to face WPI in the 3:00 p.m. title game on Sunday while the Hawks (0-1) will face Worcester State in the consolation contest at 1:00 p.m.
Brennan also had five steals and four assists, while freshman Sam O'Gara (Worcester, Mass.) added 17 points, four helpers and five swipes in her collegiate debut. Brennan now has 100 career made three-pointers – good for tenth on the school's all-time list.
Aretha Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.) pitched in with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals in just 15 minutes of action.
Sami Dokus (Littleton, Mass.) totaled seven points and seven rebounds for the Cougars who opened the game on 14-0 run and never looked back.
Becker's Brooke Martel (Griswold, Conn.) narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and a game-best eight rebounds to go with four steals. Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) pulled down seven boards and blocked a pair of shots.
Clark closed out the first half on a 13-7 run highlighted by three-pointers from Brennan and Sullivan.
After the break, Clark never saw its advantage cut below the halftime (41-12) margin of 29.
