Box Score Brunswick, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team never trailed in a 90-29 victory over Clark University on the opening day of the Coastal Maine Classic Tuesday at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-2 with the victory while the Cougars fall to 3-6 this year.
Every active player scored in the game for Bowdoin, who were led by Sara Binkhorst's 17 points in 18 minutes of play. Shannon Brady scored 12 points and grabbed five boards in 15 minutes while Emily Campbell added 10 points off the bench. Kate Kerrigan scored nine points, collected six rebounds and added two steals for the Polar Bears. Marle Curle had nine points and a team-high six assists.
Sam O'Gara (Worcester, Mass.) led Clark with 10 points while Brooke Brennan (Weston, Mass.) added seven.
Bowdoin jumped to an 11-2 lead in the opening moments and never looked back, extending their lead to 40-9 late in the opening stanza. The Polar Bears led 46-16 at halftime and continued to extend their lead in the second period, holding the Cougars to just 13 points. Bowdoin scored 54 points in the paint and added 29 off 25 Clark turnovers.
The Polar Bears finished at 53% shooting for the game while holding Clark to just 21% from the field. Bowdoin owned a 50-30 edge in rebounding and scored 19 points off 16 offensive caroms.
Action continues at the Coastal Maine Classic on Wednesday as Clark will face Bates (2:00 p.m.) and Bowdoin battles MIT (4:00 p.m.).
