Keene, N.H. – Freshman Kristine Glennie (Standish, Maine) paced a strong Clark University contingent with a ninth place finish at the Keene State Alumni Invitational on Saturday morning on the Keene State campus.
The Cougars top five finishers all completed the two-mile course in under 14:30 – a pace that was well ahead of the times of the top five finishers from Clark a season ago at this event.
"Kristen started off strong and never looked back," said second-year head coach Bill Gray. "She really attacked the course and ran with confidence."
Glennie was followed by Saraneh Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Mass.) who finished 20th in 13:35, while Alex Jeannotte (Agawam, Mass.) ran a full two minutes faster on the course than she did a year ago and posted a time of 13:53, good for 24th.
Another freshman, Autumn Perez (Watervliet, N.Y.) was right on Jeannotte's heels in 26th place with a time of 14:01.
The Cougars' fifth finisher Kelsey Herod (Lancaster, N.Y.) trimmed 20 seconds off of her time from 2013 with her 30th place showing in 14:30.
Clark will return to action on Saturday when they take part in the Smith College Invitational.
