Box Score Worcester, Mass. – UMass-Dartmouth scored a pair of goals less than ten minutes apart and the visiting Corsairs posted their second consecutive shutout with a 3-0 win over Clark University in non-league field hockey action on Tuesday evening.
The win for UMD inches their record closer to .500 at 3-4 overall while the Cougars have dropped two of their last three to slip to 3-2.
UMass-Dartmouth dominated on the offensive end, outshooting the hosts 16-3 and holding a 9-3 edge in penalty corners.
Freshman Delaney Burns (Wayne, N.J.) broke the seal on the scoring when she registered her first collegiate tally at 9:52 of the opening stanza.
Emily Anderson (Medway, Mass.) doubled the Corsair lead when she banged home her first of the season with help from Heather Fatcheric (Princeton, Mass.) at 17:12.
Things stayed that way until the second half when Ali Ladue (Bridgewater, Mass.) teamed up with Katie Tighe (Easton, Mass.) for Ladue's second of the year 49:22.
Liz St. Germain (Wareham, Mass.) turned back all three shots she faced in between the pipes for UMD, while Olivia Landry (Vestal, N.Y.) made a career-best ten stops for the Scarlet and White before giving way to Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.), who made three stops in her ten minutes of action.
The Cougars waste little time getting back into action as they travel to Elms for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the Blazers on Thursday while the Corsairs are off until Saturday's matchup at Westfield State.
