Box Score Chicopee, Mass. – Clark University had four different players account for their four goals and the visiting Cougars rolled to a 4-0 win over Elms College in non-league field hockey action on Thursday evening.
With the win, the Scarlet and White improve to 4-2 in advance of NEWMAC play starting Saturday, while the Blazers fall to 0-7 under first year head coach Jennifer Ouellette.
Clark got on the board late in the first half when sophomores Madison Boardman (Cornish, N.H.) and Emily Thompson (Gardner, Mass.) teamed up for Thompson's first collegiate marker at 19:15.
The game stayed that way until the opening moments of the second half when Olivia Cotton (Northampton, Mass.) recorded her second tally of the year at 35:35.
A little less than six minutes later the Cougars made it 3-0 when Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) setup Kaylin Mulrooney (Somerset, Mass.) for her team-leading fifth score of the year.
The Scarlet and White's final tally came with a little more than nine minutes remaining as Kelly Hart (Oak Park, Ill.) connected with Lauren Mackey (Dublin, N.H.) for the 4-0 lead.
Clark dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Blazers, 28-7 and they held a 9-4 edge in penalty corners.
Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.) just needed to make two saves to collect her second career shutout. Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.), meanwhile, who was peppered with shots all night long, made 12 saves in between the pipes for Elms.
League play kicks off on Saturday for the Cougars when they travel to Babson for a 12:00 p.m. start.
