Box Score Worcester, Mass. – Sarah Cramer (Wynnewood, Pa.) and Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist to lead Clark University to a 4-1 win over Regis College in non-league field hockey action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-3 in advance of their huge New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) visit to Mount Holyoke next Saturday. The Pride, meanwhile, slips to 2-6 overall.
In addition to Cramer and Murphy, Madison Boardman (Cornish, N.H.) dished out two assists for Clark who has now won three of their last four games.
Things started out in fine fashion for the Scarlet and White as Cramer found Murphy open on a penalty corner for an early 1-0 Cougar advantage less than ten minutes into the contest.
Regis battled back and when Laurie DeMars (Maynard, Mass.) connected with Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) on a penalty corner of their own at 21:08, the game was knotted at 1-1.
Things stayed that way until early in the second half when Murphy returned the favor and Cramer notched her second goal of the season.
Ahead 2-1, the hosts got another marker, this one courtesy of Boardman finding Zoe LaFrance-Armstrong (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) for a commanding 3-1 Clark lead at 59:18.
The Cougars added one final tally when Boardman played the playmaker again, this time setting up Olivia Cotton (Northampton, Mass.) for her third score of the year with less than two minutes to play.
Clark controlled the stat sheet, holding sizable advantages in both shots (20-1) and penalty corners (16-1).
Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) was fantastic in between the pipes for Regis, as she turned back 16 shots.
The Pride will look to return to the win column on Wednesday when they host Rivier at 7:30 p.m.
