Lions Roar Past Cougars, 57-46

Box Score

Boston, Mass. – Eli Kell-Abrams pumped in a game-high 23 points and Emerson College held Clark University to a season-low 28 percent shooting as the host Lions knocked off the Cougars, 57-46, in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday evening.

The win for Emerson is their fifth in their last six games, improving their overall record to 8-5, while moving to 2-1 in league play. Clark, meanwhile, now sits at 6-8, including a 1-2 ledger in conference contests.

In addition to Kell-Abrams, the Lions got the fourth double-double of the season from the league's leading rebounder in Austin Pinkney, who totaled 11 points and 12 boards.

Emerson was excellent defensively all night, but especially in the first half where they held the Scarlet and White to just 4-for-24 from the field and forced nine turnovers.

The Lions weren't extremely efficient either, only going 6-for-26, but they held a 26-12 edge in rebounds and went 13-for-16 from the charity stripe.

Already ahead 25-15 at halftime, Emerson pushed their lead to 17 at 38-21 as Kell-Abrams scored ten straight over a three-minute span.

The lead ballooned to as many as 24 following a three-pointer by Pinkney and a Ryan Clinesmith layup with less than nine minute to go.

No Clark player reached double figures, but Nicholas DaPrato (Marshfield, Mass.) finished with a team-high eight points and Vuk Baletic (Belgrade, Serbia) came off the bench to chip in seven points.

Emerson controlled the interior, outrebounding the Cougars, 43-20 and outscored them 22-12 in the paint on their way to their fourth straight win over Clark.

The Cougars will look to return to the win column as they begin a three-game homestand with Coast Guard Academy on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
