Worcester, Mass. – Melissa Orzechowski (Windsor, Conn.) won a pair of events and two others also won individual events but Clark University was edged out by crosstown rival, WPI, 132-99, in a dual meet hosted at the Sports and Recreation Center on Thursday evening.
Orzechowski kicked off her night by taking first-place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.09. She then followed that up by touching the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:16.74.
Breanna Tucker (Temecula, Calif.) finished first in the one-meter diving event, registering a score of 235.65, while Lydia Berry (Kennebunk, Maine) claimed an individual title in the 1,000-yard freestyle by finishing in 11:21.06.
The Clark foursome of Kelsey Clary (Cambridge, Mass.), Liz Barker (Augusta, Maine), Berry and Emily Drewniany (Middletown, Conn.) added another win for the Cougars, taking the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.39.
Clark will return to the pool on Saturday with a home meet against Brandeis University beginning at 1:00 p.m.
