Worcester, Mass. – Breanna Tucker (Temecula, Calif.) and Melissa Orzechowski (Windsor, Conn.) each registered individual victories but the Clark University women's swimming and diving team dropped a 165-76 decision to Wheaton College and a 146-94 verdict to Mount Holyoke College on Friday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center Pool.
Tucker claimed the individual crown in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 218.85. That followed her second place performance on the 1-meter board, turning in a 197.65.
Orzechowski, meanwhile, claimed top honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.84 and was very nearly in the winner's circle again in the 100-yard backstroke, where she was edged out by Mount Holyoke's Annie Kuenning by two-tenths of a second.
Clark had several other top five finishes, including Leah Guliasi (San Rafael, Calif.) finishing fifth on the 1-meter board, Lydia Berry (Kennebunk, Maine) fifth in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Emily Drewniany (Middletown, Conn.), collecting a fifth-place effort in the 50-yard freestyle, Karina Urquhart (Sanford, Maine), notching a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM and Natalie Omary (New York, N.Y.) posting third place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle and a fourth-place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Cougars are back in action on Friday when they take part in the Worcester City Championships at Holy Cross.
