Hot Shooting Rams Move Past Clark, 60-52

Box Score

Framingham, Mass. – Worcester native Jacek Louisville led a quartet of Framingham State players in double figures with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists and the host Rams topped Clark University 60-52 in non-league men's basketball action on Tuesday evening.

With the win, Framingham State improves to 2-6 overall, while the Cougars continue their slide, falling to 1-7 overall.

Additionally, the win for the Rams is extra sweet with head coach Peter Mugar and all three of his assistants – John Ginnity, Jake Gubitose and John Karas –all being Clark graduates who were members of the basketball program.

Standout Stars:
Lamar Berk
(Saint Augustine, Fla.) recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.

Luca McCormick (Bradenton, Fla.) returned after a two-game absence and posted a team-best 14 points to go along with four rebounds.

In addition to Louisville, both Daniel Gould (Quincy, Mass.) and Timothy McCarthy (Wilmington, Mass.) added 14 points each, connecting on a combined 8-for-16 from behind the three point arc.

Turning Point:
With Gould and McCarthy bombing away from three-point land early, the Rams jumped out to a 16-6 advantage and never relinquished the lead.

Clark made several runs to get close, the last coming when they trimmed the lead down to four at 56-52, after a layup by Joe Atkinson (Milford, Mass.) and a pair of free throws from McCormick with 43 seconds left.

Framingham State salted the game away, however, by making four straight free throws and forcing the Scarlet and White to miss their final three shots.

Inside The Numbers:
The hosts connected on ten three-pointers in the contest, shooting 45.5 percent from behind the arc. In addition, the Black and Gold made 61 percent of their field goals in the final 20 minutes (11-for-18).

Clark, meanwhile, had an uncharacteristically low number of assists, dishing out just three helpers on the night and they struggled from three-point land, going only 2-for-16.

Next On The Docket:
Clark returns to the hardwood for their final contest of the first semester when they visit Western New England on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
