Cougars Settle For 0-0 Tie With Crosstown Lancers

Worcester, Mass. – For the second straight contest, Clark University netminder Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md.) shutout the opposition. Unlike Wednesday however, the Cougar offense couldn't find the back of the net, so the Scarlet and White settled for a 0-0 tie with crosstown rival Worcester State on Saturday afternoon at John F. Coughlin Field.

The Cougars ledger now sits at 2-2-1in advance of Tuesday's home contest against Curry College.

For Paolini, meanwhile, the shutout for her is the second of the season and the 11th of her career.

Worcester State actually held advantages in several categories, including a 22-5 edge in shots and 6-1 margin in corner kicks.

Worcester State paced the game in the first half, as they had a series of corner kicks in the first half, but were unable to put a goal on the scoreboard.

The game's best scoring opportunity came in the 58 th minute when the Lancers' Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, Mass.), had phenomenal shot turned aside by Paolini, who leaped to push Macomber's over the crossbar.

In all, Paolini made nine saves in her 110 minutes and is now sitting on a shutout streak of 275:38.
