How It Happened:
Out to avenge last season's stunning loss to Clark in the NEWMAC Tournament Semifinals, Springfield came out in the first set on fire, hitting .402 on their way to a 25-10 victory.

Clark seemed to settle the match down in the second set, leading for a great deal until six straight points by the Pride turned a 14-13 deficit into a 19-14 advantage. The Cougars got as close as two points a few more times, but Springfield went up 2-0 with their 25-21 win.

The third set saw the hosts hit .402 led by five kills from Lauren Holt. After trailing 16-13 midway through the set, the Pride outscored the Cougars 12-3 to secure the victory.

Clark was paced by Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), who finished with a match-high 14 kills, while Rachel Webb (Celina, Texas) just missed out on a double-double with 27 assists and nine digs.

Holt, the reigning NEWMAC Player of the Year, had 14 kills with just one hitting error and added three block solos and four block assists.

Up Next:
Clark returns to action on Thursday when they host Framingham State in a non-conference affair. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
