Box Score 2 Brockton, Mass. – Clark University got a pair of stellar pitching performances from freshmen Mike Tice (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Cal Slepkow (Rehoboth, Mass.) and the visiting Cougars swept a New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball twinbill with Emerson College on Saturday afternoon.
The win for the Cougars sends their overall record to 11-10 and open up conference play with a pair of wins for the first time in more than a decade.
In the opener, Tice improved to 4-0 on the season by hurling seven strong innings, scattering seven hits and allowing no runs as the Cougars rolled to an 8-1 win.
Slepkow, meanwhile, was just as impressive in the nightcap, spinning a complete game six-hit shutout as he moved to 3-0 on the year in the 5-0 win. He walked just one and struck out seven batters while throwing 105 pitches.
Clark will return to action on Tuesday when they visit Wheaton College for another conference contest. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
