HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
-Clark won the tipoff and got an opening three pointer from senior, John Pisacreta (Andover, Mass) to take a 3-0 lead. Fitchburg State quickly answered with a three of their own.
-The two teams traded baskets and were tied 22 apiece, when Fitchburg erupted on an 11-0 run to take a 33-22 lead.
-After a made jumper from Davern (Webster, Mass) cut the Fitchburg lead to 33-26, the Falcons finished the first half on a 12-4 run, taking a commanding 45-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Second Half
-After a poor opening five minutes by the Cougars, the Falcons were able to extend their lead to 58-32
-A Cougar 13-1 run, led by junior, Luca McCormick (Fort Lauderdale, Fla) cut the Falcons lead to 64-54 midway through the second half, only to see the Falcons regain control and earn the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Davern (Webster, Mass) led the Cougars with 17pts, while McCormick (Fort Lauderdale, Fla) led the Cougars with 5 rebounds.
-Falcon Junior, Jonathan Perez (Lowell, Mass) led all players, scoring a game high 28pts.
-The Cougars shot a dismal 13% from beyond the arc (3-24), and were 77% from the free throw line (17-22)
