How It Happened:
The Spartans jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead when Mikell crushed a two-run shot in the top of the first off of Clark starter Cam Smith (Gorham, Maine).

It didn't take long for the Cougars to respond as they got three back in the bottom of the first on a bases-clearing double by Ryan Ruhlin (Portland, Maine).

The squads traded runs in the second with Clark's coming on a Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, Conn.) single that scored Andrew Thibault (Nashua, N.H.).

Down 4-3, Castleton State hit back-to-back homeruns in the third courtesy of Jonathan Lindau and Mikell.

Chochrek evened the score with his record-breaking round tripper, surpassing the mark established by several others, including current graduate assistant coach, David Eschen. The homerun for Chochrek is the 13th of his career, just one off from tying the all-time school mark of 14 set by John Galvin.

Castleton surged ahead when Dylan Bailey crushed a go ahead three run homerun in the sixth and then Matt Jackson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) smacked a solo shot in the seventh.

Bonicki delivered a double to left and then raced home on a Ruhlin single to left, cutting the Clark deficit to 9-6.

The Spartans, however, would go on to score five runs in the eighth highlighted by an RBI double from Lindau and a run-scoring single from Jackson.
