Hartford, Conn...The Clark University women's volleyball team traveled to the Trinity College Invitational tournament and defeated Westfield State 3-1 on Friday night in the first game of the tournament. The Cougars improved to 3-1 while the Owls fell to 1-4.

Clark's junior Ana Mercado (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) had a match high 16 kills and added 11 digs. Classmate Rayme Quiban (Seattle, Wash.) recorded 28 digs. First-year Sophia Torino (Los Angeles, Calif.) had a solid match with 26 assists.

Junior Lizzie Taylor (Medfield, Mass.) and first-year Jess Haradon (Mansfield, Mass) had a solid night on the defensive end for the Owls with 20 digs.

Clark is back in action on Saturday, September 10 and day two of the invitational when they face ECONN and Trinity (10 am and 12 pm).
