-The Lead: No. 21 Babson College scored in the bottom of the 10th inning in game one and rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth in game two to sweep visiting Clark University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Govoni Field.

The Beavers, who have now won seven consecutive games, took the opener 1-0 before rallying for a 9-8 victory in game two. The Cougars, who have dropped six of their last seven games, slip to 7-9 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Game One: Babson 1, Clark 0 (10 inn.)

-Senior Michael Genaro (Greenwich, Conn.) allowed just two hits while recording a season-high nine strikeouts over 9.0 innings, and the Beavers scratched out the only run of the game in the bottom of the 10th to win their conference opener. Classmate Eric Jaun (Loveland, Ohio) had two hits and fellow senior Max Tannenbaum (Coral Springs, Fla.) picked up his first victory of the season with two strikeouts in a perfect 10th inning.

-Genaro and his counterpart, senior Cal Slepkow (Rehoboth, Mass.) of Clark, were in control throughout the afternoon. Genaro retired the first 11 batters he faced and didn't allow a hit until the sixth, while Slepkow retired the leadoff batter in every frame but the 10th when he walked Babson senior Nicholas Browne (Mount Laurel, N.J.) on four pitches. Junior Zack Sette (Franklin, Mass.), who came on to run for Browne, reached third on consecutive sacrifice bunts and then raced home with the game's only run on senior Connor Gill's (Sterling, Mass.) line drive sacrifice fly to center field.

Slepkow (3-1), who was lifted for senior Daniel Davidoff (Old Tappan, N.J.), after issuing the walk to Browne to start the 10th, fanned seven and scattered six hits over 9.0 innings of work. Junior Dylan Horn (Sterling, Conn.) singled twice to record both of Clark's hits.

Game Two: Babson 9, Clark 8

-Junior Jake Oliger (Newtown, Conn.) went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBI, senior Edward Lehr (Byram Township, N.J.) had three hits and scored three times, and junior Sean Harrington (Walpole, Mass.) drove in a pair of runs for the Green and White. Tannenbaum (2-0) worked the ninth inning to pick up his second win of the day as four Babson pitchers combined to strike out 10 Clark hitters.

-Junior Andrew Thibault (Nashua, N.H.) had three hits, Horn went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and first-year Andrea Casabianca (Yonkers, N.Y.) doubled twice and scored a pair of runs for the Cougars. Sophomore Nick Guarino (New Haven, Conn.) gave up six runs, just three of them earned, on eight hits over 7.0 innings before giving way to senior Dan Shaw (Arlington, Mass.), who fell to 0-3 on the year after allowing three runs in 1.2 innings of work.

-Trailing 8-6 going to the bottom of the ninth following a solo blast by senior Zach Kelley (Hadley, Mass.) in the top of the frame, the Beavers scored all three of their runs with two outs. Lehr legged out an infield single, Harrington looped a base hit into center, and Oliger doubled to the wall in left center to make it 8-8. Jaun fouled off five pitches from Shaw before hitting a hard grounder to shortstop that exploded on Horn allowing Oliger to race home with the winning run.

-Clark scored three times in the second and extended its lead to 4-0 on a bases loaded balk by Babson junior Michael Nocchi (Manasquan, N.J.) in the fourth. Browne singled home Jaun to make it 4-3 in the bottom of the frame and Oliger's two-run single in the fifth gave the Green and White a 6-4 advantage. After pulling within 6-5 in the sixth, the Cougars used two singles, an error and a wild pitch to go back in front 7-6 in the top of the eighth.

Nocchi earned a no-decision after giving up five runs in 5.1 innings. Sophomore William Gallagher (Kingston, N.Y.) struck out the side in the seventh and tossed 1.2 scoreless frames in relief for the Beavers.
