How it Happened
Junior Katie Jones (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored 11 points, while first-years Megan Bauman (East Lyme, Conn.) and Samantha Smith (Greenfield, Mass.) added 10 points apiece for the Beavers. Smith and senior Jacqueline Jozefick (Milford, Conn.) both pulled down nine rebounds and Bonifacic added five assists and five steals in the win.
Sophomore Hallie Johnson (Princeton, Mass.) scored 12 points to pace the Cougars, who shot just 16.9 percent (11-of-65) from the floor.
All five starters scored and Bauman, Jozefick and senior Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) each knocked down a three-pointer as the Green and White raced out to a 19-4 lead less than six minutes into the contest. Jones made the first of her three triples to extend the margin to 22-6 in the final minute of the first quarter, but the Beavers went just 4-of-16 from the floor in the second and had to settle for a 34-20 lead at the half.
Despite missing four of its first six shots and committing three early turnovers, Babson pulled away by outscoring Clark 27-4 in the third quarter. Bauman and Bonifacic combined for 10 of the first 15 points, and Jones followed up back-to-back three-pointers with another bucket to extend the lead to 57-21 with 2:16 left in the stanza. Johnson hit a three-pointer for the Cougars' only field goal of the period on the ensuing possession, but Smith converted layups on consecutive trips to give the Green and White a 61-24 advantage going to the fourth.
The Beavers, who made a season-high eight three-pointers, shot 40 percent from the field and outscored Clark 30-14 in the paint. Babson also enjoyed a 68-35 edge on the glass and turned 26 turnovers by the Cougars into 22 points.
