Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Clark University men's basketball team were defeated, 103-70, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest Wednesday night at the Brown & Plofker Gymnasium.

How it Happened
Junior guard Biko Gayman (Fort Pierce, Fla.) turned in a game-high 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting including 5-of-7 from three-point range to go with four assists. Junior co-captain Tyler Davern (Webster, Mass.) matched the game-high of two blocks while producing 14 points and six rebounds on the night.
Sophomore Zackary Mittelstadt (Wilton, Maine) recorded the fifth double-figure scoring game in his career, collecting with 14 points on 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Junior Matthew Waggett (Saugus, Mass.) chipped in with nine points while corralling six rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
For Emerson, Jarred Houston tallied 19 points and eight rebounds while Jack O' Connor picked up a double-double of 16 points and ten assists. The duo led six in double-figures for the Lions.
The Cougars started strong as Davern and Mittelstadt supplied seven points early with the team trailing 11-9 at the 15:10 mark of the first half. Emerson gained separation with four different scorers, but Clark responded with a triple from sophomore Joel Arteaga (Wyncote, Pa.) and another from Waggett bookending an 8-3 run to bring the gap to 23-17.
Emerson re-opened the advantage to 34-22 with an 11-5 run with Davern and Mittelstadt supplying the points for the Cougars. The Lions maintained momentum through the final five minutes of the half, taking a 53-29 lead into the break.
Junior co-captain Charles Stevens (Bronx, N.Y.) got things started in the second half with a three-point before the Lions matched it with lay-ups from Zach Waterhouse and O'Connor. With 15:56 to go, Gayman knocked down his third three of the second half, igniting a 10-point unanswered spurt which also saw Davern connect from deep.
Later in the half, Clark received back-to-back three-pointers from Mittelstadt to make it a 73-56 margin with 10:49 left in regulation. Emerson was able to take control over the remaining time as Max Davis supplied 11 points during a 30-14 scoring drive en route to the final score.
Clark finished 26-of-69 from the field and 14-of-40 from three-point range while Emerson was 37-of-57 and 9-of-17 in the same two areas. The Lions held a 43-27 advantage on the glass.
