How it Happened
The Cougars plated their highest run total of the season with 15 runs with 12 of coming in the seventh inning – the most in one inning since Clark scored 11 during the first inning against Norwich on March 26, 2011.
Senior captain Dylan Horn (Sterling, Conn.) went 4-for-4 at the dish with a season-high two RBI and three runs scored while Andrew Thibault (Nashua, N.H.) ripped a pair of doubles and finished the game with three RBI.
Junior James Huber (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Andrea Casabianca (Yonkers, N.Y.) contributed to the hit parade with two hits and a double apiece while senior captain Derek Lefebvre (Groton, Mass.) added a triple.
The Cougars struck for an early run in the bottom of the first when Chris Radovic (Fairfield, Conn.) legged out a potential inning-ending double play to score Horn from third base. In the fourth, the host doubled it as Casabianca drove a double off the fence in left field to bring home Huber for the 2-0 lead.
Keene State took control in the third frame with three runs, highlighted by Tom Meucci as he delivered a double in the right-centerfield gap to plate Sam Czel and Josh DeFrancisco for a 3-2 score.
Clark's offense erupted in the seventh inning, sending 17 batters in all to the dish and scoring 12 runs on seven hits with six coming after a costly error from the Owls. Huber began the rally early in the inning with an RBI double before senior Nick Jordan (Seaford, N.Y.) brought in a pair on a double of his own. From there the Cougars strung together four more hits in the inning including a two-run single from Horn and an RBI triple off the bat of Lefebvre in consecutive pitches.
The Cougars added one more run before the end of the game as first-year Anthony Keefe (Plymouth, Mass.) came in to pinch-hit, picking up his first collegiate hit and RBI with a single to make it 12-4 on the scoreboard.
First-year Max Moss (Manhattan, N.Y.) logged his first collegiate win after tossing four innings of one-hit ball while striking out four. Classmate Casey Gorczyca (Boonton, N.J.) made his first collegiate start with four innings and three punchouts while surrendering three runs.
