Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (11-7, 3-4 NEWMAC) dropped a conference match against No. 18 MIT (18-1, 7-0 NEWMAC) by a 3-0 margin on Tuesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium.
Clark fell 25-17 in the first set, 25-16 in the second set, and 25-13 in the final frame.
How it Happened
- Clark fell behind 12-5 early despite kills from sophomores Sheyenne Williams and Sofia Scherrer del Llano and junior Claudia Rivera and pulled to within four at 19-15 led by a pair of kills from Rivera and one apiece from Scherrer del Llano and senior Margarita Perez Maza before falling 25-17 in the first set.
- The teams battled early in the second set to a 9-9 tie led by a Rivera service ace and a pair of kills, but MIT scored the next 11 points in the match, but Clark fought back to only fall 25-16 led by a service ace from first-year Yvanna Torres and a kill from Williams.
- The Cougars fell behind 12-8 early in the third set despite a pair of kills from Perez Maza and kills from senior Sophia Torino, sophomore Victoria Pastor, and Scherrer del Llano, but the MIT led extended to 21-11 and won the set 25-13.
