Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (2-14, 0-8 NEWMAC) dropped a conference match against No. 4 Babson (16-1, 7-0 NEWMAC) by a 7-0 margin on Saturday afternoon from MacDowell Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Grace Sawyer recorded three early saves, but Babson scored a goal in the fifth minute on a shot from Jessica Evans and the Cougars nearly tied the score late in the quarter with shots on goal from first-year Rebecca Murphy and sophomore Rachael Romain that were saved as Babson led 1-0 after one quarter of action.
- The Beavers scored a pair of goals over the first three minutes of the second quarter and Sawyer then stopped a pair of shots from the Beavers before Babson added another goal in the 20th minute as Clark trailed 4-0 at the half.
- Sawyer registered eight saves over the first seven minutes of the third quarter on dangerous chances from the Beavers and sophomore Greer McCarty nearly added a goal for the Cougars in the 41st minute that was saved.
- Sawyer ended the third quarter with 13 saves in the period, including a shot she saved at the buzzer as neither team scored in the third period.
- Babson added a pair of goals early in the fourth before senior Kimberlie Asseng and Romain fired shots on target that were stopped and the Beavers netted a last second goal as they won 7-0.
