Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (13-11, 4-5 NEWMAC) won a critical conference match against Wellesley (8-10, 3-6 NEWMAC) on Tuesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium by a 3-0 margin.
Clark won the first set 25-18, won the second 25-22 in the second, and took the final 25-20.
How it Happened
- The Cougars took an early 13-10 led by kills from sophomore Sofia Scherrer del Llano, junior Claudia Rivera, senior Marimo Oka and sophomore Camille Flurry before the set went back-and-forth as Clark led 19-18 with kills from sophomore Victoria Pastor and Scherrer del Llano.
- Clark then closed the set with six straight points with kills from Flurry and Rivera as they took the first set 25-18.
- The scarlet and white then went up 10-6 early with two more Pastor kills before the Blue tied the set up at 16-16 despite three kills from Rivera.
- The set then got to 20-20 before Clark ended on a 5-2 run with an Oka service ace and a kill from Williams to win the second set 25-22.
- The Cougars also commanded the third set with a 14-6 advantage early with two service aces from first-year Gabi Acevedo Perez, two kills from senior Margarita Perez Maza, and kills from Pastor, Rivera, and Scherrer del Llano.
- Wellesley got to within four at 23-19 despite two more Rivera kills, but the Cougars closed the match out with a kill from Williams and took the set 25-20.
