Overtime Goal Propels Clark Over Springfield

Box Score
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Clark (11-5, 7-2 NEWMAC) won a crucial NEWMAC match over Springfield (6-7-2, 4-3-2 NEWMAC) with a thrilling overtime goal from senior Jamie Joseph to win 3-2 on Wednesday night from Brock-Affleck Field. The win marked the first time the Cougars have bested Springfield since 1999.

Joseph had a big night for the Cougars with a pair of goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime. First-year Cassandra Trevino also came up big with a goal, while graduate student Sarah Berube had two assists.

Coach Smith's Thoughts

"What a battle tonight," said head coach Brienne Smith following the win. "Literally had to fight for every ball. I think it says a lot about our team that we were able to bounce back after going down a goal. They never stopped working and willed their way back in. The finish in OT was spectacular. Sarah put it exactly where she needed to and Jamie always finds a way. I'm beyond proud of tonight's effort!"
