Women's Cross Country Places 10th at NEWMAC Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Clark University women's cross country finished 10th at the 2021 NEWMAC Championships on Saturday afternoon from Wellesley College in the 5k race.

Coach Sharma's Thoughts

"We are extremely proud of the effort we saw from both our teams for the championship meet today. We got a little lost on the way to the course but got there safe and ready to race.  The course was tough with a lot of rolling hills, but both the men and women were ready to get after it. Several of our women PR'd at this meet which is what we were hoping for at a championship meet. The men's team also did well staying consistent with recent times and improving on performances from the previous race. We had many friends, family, alumni show up along with members of athletics so it made for a really positive environment and day. We want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us for this race!"

Coach Ryan's Thoughts

"It was a rainy and muddy day at Wellesley today for our NEWMAC championship meet. The course was full of mud and rolling hills which provided plenty of challenges. The NEWMAC conference is a very strong group of schools, so we were up against strong competition. On the men's team everyone worked hard to match, or come close to their personal bests. On the women's team we saw a number of athletes beat their personal bests. This allowed us to beat Babson and close the gap on Emerson. As coaches, we're very proud of how everyone performed today, and this season. The training and effort clearly paid off today for our runners. In two weeks we'll be running at at the eastern New England D3 regional meet at Franklin Park in Boston. This meet has a number of very good D3 teams from around the area, so we will be taking these few weeks to rest and recover and prepare for the regional meet."
