Favaloro Nets Career-High 33 Points in Loss at Nichols

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (1-3) played its first road game of the year and fell 86-77 to Nichols (2-2) in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon from the Nichols Athletic Center.

Graduate student Hannah Favaloro netted a career-high 33 points and pulled down 20 rebounds.

How it Happened

  • The Cougars got out to an early 5-0 lead off a three-pointer from senior Hallie Johnson and a layup from Favaloro before the Bison took a 13-7 advantage with 5:18 to go in the first despite another basket from Favaloro.
  • A Johnson layup, free throw, and three-pointer helped Clark stay within six as the team's traded baskets as Nichols led 23-17 at the end of the first.
  • Favaloro netted Clark's first eight points of the second quarter, sparked by a pair of and-ones and a three-pointer from sophomore Jacqueline Faulise gave the Cougars a 28-26 lead with 6:44 to go in the second.
  • Sophomore Emma Levesque connected on a triple before the Bison went on a 14-4 run to end the second despite four more points from Favaloro as Nichols led 45-35 at the half.
  • Levesque made another three early in the second half to get within eight before the Bison again extended their lead to 18 with 4:40 left in the third and Clark fought to come back to within 13 with three more points from Favaloro as the Cougars trailed 64-49 entering the fourth.
  • Sophomore Alaina Schatzabel opened the fourth with a pair of layups and Clark got back within single digits with 4:19 to go on a made layup from Faulise.
  • Junior Jaline Waters connected on a pair of three-pointers as the Cougars were behind 81-73 and Faulise and Johnson layups pulled Clark within four at 81-77 with 0:59 remaining before Nichols scored the final five points of the game to win 86-77.

  • Favaloro recorded her third double-double of the season with 33 points and a season-high 20 rebounds.
  • Johnson also grabbed a career-high with 16 rebounds and added 15 points.
  • Faulise added seven points off the bench.
  • Clark grabbed 64 total rebounds, dished out 15 assists, and recorded eight steals.
  • Richey dished out a team-leading seven assists.

What's Next

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Fitchburg State for a non-conference contest beginning at 6:00 p.m.
