Box Score FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (2-3) recorded their second win of the season as they cruised to a 71-49 win against Fitchburg State (1-4) on Wednesday night from Parkinson Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- The Cougars started the game by scoring the first seven points led by four points from graduate student Hannah Favaloro before the Falcons took a short lead of 10-9 with and senior Ginny Benbow took the lead back with a made three-pointer with 3:10 to go in the first to go up 12-10.
- Clark ended the quarter on a 6-2 run led by points from Favaloro, junior Sarah Zabrano, and sophomore Mariah Harris to take an 18-12 lead into the second quarter.
- The teams traded baskets over the first five minutes of the second as senior Hallie Johnson connected on a three and sophomore Jacqueline Faulise made a layup before another Johnson triple put Clark up 29-21 with 3:22 to go in the second.
- Harris made a three before the half as the teams entered the locker room with Clark leading 33-30.
- The Cougars pushed the lead to nine at 43-34 with 5:10 left in the third sparked by a pair of Favaloro layups and junior Julianne Liebow made three straight free throws after being fouled to go up 46-36.
- Liebow later hit a three to take a 53-36 lead and Favaloro connected on two more layups as Clark led 57-40 going into the fourth.
- Favaloro, Benbow, and sophomore Alaina Schatzabel each scored in the first 4:13 of the fourth to take a 63-46 lead and pulled away from the Falcons to win 71-49.
