Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Clark University volleyball team (13-13) fell to Coast Guard (17-7) in the NEWMAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday night from Roland Hall by a 3-0 margin.
The Cougars fell 25-16 in the first set, dropped the second set 25-19 and third 25-19.
How it Happened
- Clark trailed 13-11 early in the first set despite two kills from both sophomores Victoria Pastor and Sofia Scherrer del Llano before the Bears pulled away with two more kills coming from Scherrer del Llano as the Cougars fell 25-16 in the first.
- The scarlet and white and the Bears battled early and traded points as Coast Guard led 10-9 with kills coming from senior Margarita Perez and junior Claudia Rivera and Clark tied the set at 18-18 led by two more kills from Rivera before Coast Guard pulled away with a 25-19 win in the second.
- Clark went ahead 7-2 early in the third set with a service ace from first-year Yvanna Torres and kills from Pastor and Scherrer del Llano and the set was then tied 14-14 with kills from Rivera and Torres.
- The Cougars pulled ahead 19-17 with kills from sophomore Sheyenne Williams, Scherrer del Llano, and Perez Maza as well as a service ace from senior Marimo Oka before Coast Guard pulled away to win 25-19.
