Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (7-0) pushed their winning streak to seven games with an 81-66 victory over Lesley (2-6) on Tuesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium. The seven game winning streak is the programs longest since 2001-02 and the best start to a season since the 1986-87 national runner up.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 15-10 lead with 13:04 left in the first sparked by five points from graduate student Biko Gayman, four points from graduate student Tyler Davern, and three points from sophomores Bruce Saintilus and Mikey O'Brien.
- Gayman pushed the lead to eight with a three-pointer with 11:43 remaining in the first and a Zackary Mittelstadt layup extended the advantage to 12 at 26-14 before the Lynx pulled back into the game and trailed 30-28 with 6:41 to go.
- Saintilus then knocked down a three-pointer and made two layups to spark his own 7-0 run and push the lead to 37-28 before Lesley ended the half on a 11-4 run despite free throws from graduate student Matthew Waggett and first-year Kyle Jackson as Clark led 41-39 at the half.
- The Lynx took a 46-43 lead out of the half before Davern made a layup and Jackson connected on a triple to tie the game at 48-48 and the team's traded baskets until a Saintilus layup with 10:19 left in the game gave Clark a 54-53 lead.
- O'Brien, Gayman, and Davern each made layups to keep a two point lead at 60-58 before the Cougars exploded and went on a 16-0 run sparked by seven points from both Saintilus and Gayman as well as a Davern layup as they held Lesley scoreless for nearly four minutes and led 76-58 with 4:12 to go.
- The Cougars then closed out the game with five more points as they pushed the win streak to seven games with a convincing 81-66 win.
