Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (5-3) extended their winning streak to four games with a come from behind 78-70 win over Salem State (1-6) on Tuesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium. The four game winning streak is Clark's longest since 2016.
How it Happened
- Salem State got out to an early 8-2 lead before graduate student Hannah Favaloro and junior Julianne Liebow added two points each to pull within two, but the Vikings led 18-12 after one quarter despite two more points from senior Hallie Johnson, sophomore Jacqueline Faulise, and Favaloro.
- The teams traded baskets early in the second quarter before Salem State pushed the lead to 29-18 with 5:07 left, but Clark pulled within five with points from senior Julia Beebe, Favaloro, and Johnson before the Vikings would take a 36-28 lead into the break.
- Clark pulled within five at 41-36 with 6:04 remaining in the third with buckets from first-year Megan Swedberg and senior Ginny Benbow before continuing its 13-0 run with six points from Benbow and a Johnson three to take a 43-41 advantage.
- The teams then traded leads multiple times before Favaloro put the Cougars up by four at 52-48 with 2:26 left in the third with a layup, but the Vikings took a 57-52 lead into the fourth.
- After falling behind by seven, senior Cam Richey, Favaloro, and Benbow each scored to pull within one a 59-58 with 6:50 remaining and Clark took the lead at 63-62 on a made three from Benbow with 5:34 to go.
- The Cougars scored the games next seven points sparked by a pair of Beebe layups to take a 70-62 lead with 3:41 remaining and after pulling within four, Benbow and Johnson kept the lead at four with 0:33 left before Favaloro made a layup with 0:25 left to go up 76-70 and two more Benbow free throws guided Clark to a 78-70 win.
