Men's Basketball Tops Framingham State 69-52 on Thursday Night

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (8-0) extended their winning streak to eight games with a 69-52 win over Framingham State (1-9) on Thursday night from the Kneller Gymnasium.

The eight game winning streak is the programs longest since 2001-02 when they won eight straight and matched the 1986-87 national runner ups opening 8-0 record. The 52 points allowed is the lowest point total allowed in a game this season.

How it Happened

  • Clark took an early 14-9 lead sparked by six points from graduate student Biko Gayman, five points from senior Gralen Vereen, and a three-pointer from senior Zackary Mittelstadt before Framingham State tied the game at 15-15 with 9:10 left in the first half.
  • The Cougars then went on a 12-0 run where they held the Rams scoreless for over five minutes and got three's from Vereen, two threes from graduate student Tyler Davern, and a three-point play from sophomore Bruce Saintilus to take a 27-15 lead and got a pair of layups from Vereen and Saintilus at the end of the half as Clark led 31-23 at the break.
  • Clark opened the second half on a 7-2 run led by layups from Vereen and Saintilus and a three from Davern to take a 38-25 advantage before the Rams pulled to within seven at 39-32 with 13:31 to go.
  • The Cougars then went on another massive run as the scored 17 unanswered sparked by two three's from Davern and Gayman, one from first-year Kyle Jackson, and a Waggett layup to take a 56-32 advantage with 9:39 to go as they held the Rams scoreless for over five minutes again.
  • Saintilus and Mittelstadt continued Clark's hot shooting with two more threes and got buckets from Davern, Waggett, and sophomore Jordan Richard down the stretch as they came away with a 69-52 win over Framingham State.

Clark will play its final game before the winter break when they travel to Connecticut College for a non-conference matchup against the Camels beginning at 2:00 p.m.
