Women's Basketball Falls to Bridgewater State on Tuesday

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (5-5) dropped a non-conference contest against Bridgewater State (8-3) by a 83-70 margin on Tuesday night from the Tinsley Center.

How it Happened

  • Clark took an early 14-3 lead sparked by 10 points on a pair of threes and two layups from senior Hallie Johnson and baskets from sophomore Emma Levesque and graduate student Hannah Favaloro.
  • Sophomore Alaina Schatzabel made a layup and another Johnson three-pointer helped Clark take a 20-13 lead after one quarter of action.
  • Favaloro connected on a layup and senior Emily Sifferlen netted her first points of the year with a three as Clark trailed 26-25 with 7:17 left in the second quarter.
  • Schatzabel made a layup and a Favaloro free throw were the Cougars final points of the half as Clark trailed 42-28 at the end of the first half.
  • Sophomore Jacqueline Faulise made a layup and Sifferlen and Johnson connected on threes early in the half while first-year Megan Swedberg and senior Ginny Benbow both made layups as Clark pulled within 12 at 54-42 with 4:55 left in the third.
  • Favaloro, Johnson, Sifferlen, and senior Cam Richey each scored during the rest of the quarter as the Cougars trailed 61-48 after three quarters of play.
  • Faulise made a three and Favaloro connected on a pair of layups as Clark pulled within six at 61-55 with 8:02 to go before the Bears pushed the lead back to 11 and a Sifferlen triple pulled the deficit back to eight at 66-58.
  • Faulise scored four more points and Favaloro converted an and-one layup before sophomore Mariah Harris made a pair of free throws to pull within nine at 77-68 with 1:25 remaining, but Clark fell 83-70.

Inside the Box Score

  • Favaloro led the team with 17 points and 14 rebounds, which was her seventh double-double of the season.
  • Johnson also netted 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
  • Sifferlen scored 12 points in her season debut and made three three-pointers.
  • Faulise netted nine points and Richey led the way with six assists.
  • Clark grabbed 46 rebounds, dished out 16 assists, and recorded 13 steals.

What's Next

The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday, December 19 when they welcome Johnson & Wales to the Kneller for a non-conference matchup beginning at 1:00 p.m.
