Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (6-1) competed in its first home tri-match of the season and came away with wins over Fitchburg State (1-4) and Vassar (2-4) on Saturday afternoon from Kneller Gymnasium.
Clark beat Fitchburg State 3-0 in straight sets and the Cougars fell 3-2 in five competitive sets against Vassar.
Fitchburg State vs. Clark
- Clark won the first set 25-15 over Fitchburg State.
- The Cougars took the second and third set by a 25-16 margin.
- Sophomore Victoria Pastor led the Cougars with eight kills in the match and recorded two solo blocks.
- Fellow sophomore Camille Flurry recorded five kills and junior Claudia Rivera tallied four kills.
- Senior Marimo Oka led the way with 11 digs and four service aces.
- First-years Yvanna Torres and Emily Newman registered 15 and 14 total assists respectively.
- First-year Gabi Acevedo Perez and junior Claire Baker each recorded eight digs apiece.
- Clark tallied 32 total kills, 30 total assists, and 37 total digs in the match.
Vassar vs. Clark
- Clark won a competitive first set 28-26 in thrilling fashion.
- Vassar edged the Cougars 25-22 in the second set.
- The scarlet and white recorded a 25-20 win in the third frame.
- Vassar won a long fourth set that went back-and-forth by a 29-27 margin.
- The Brewers ended up taking the final set, which was another competitive set 18-16.
- Sophomore Sofia Scherrer del Llano led the Cougars with 15 kills in the match.
- Rivera added 14 kills and Pastor recorded 13 kills against the Brewers.
- Oka led the team with 28 digs and senior Acevedo Perez added 17.
- Torres dished out 37 total assists and senior Sophia Torino registered 20.
- Clark recorded 62 kills, 60 total assists, and 115 digs in the contest.

Clark will begin its 2021 NEWMAC campaign when they welcome WPI to the Kneller Gymnasium on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
