Box Score WORCESTER, Mass.- In another clash of top 25 teams, No. 22 Clark University women's soccer (3-2-0, 0-1-0 NEWMAC) suffered a setback to No. 7 MIT (6-0-1, 1-0-0 NEWMAC) in a NEWMAC conference matchup at Granger Field on Saturday afternoon.
First-year Anabella White recorded her first minutes for the Cougars recording a .750 save percentage on the day. Senior Jamie Joseph paced the way for the Cougars rifling off three shots and landing two of them on goal.
How it Happened
- The Cougars offense came out aggressive early as Joseph launched a shot that was blocked in the third minute and soon after, Clark junior Siobhan Lounsbury fired a shot that was saved by MIT keeper Ava Gillikin.
- After senior netminder Morgan Small's first save of the afternoon, Joseph headed a shot on target that was saved in the 15th minute and first-year Cassandra Trevino fired a shot on target in the 20th minute that was stopped.
- MIT got on the board first 38 minutes into the game when Meagan Rowlett broke free and buried a shot in the lower right-hand corner of the net.
- After another Small save, the Engineers' scored another goal as Kaitlin Zareno put one on the board in the 52nd minute, opening up the lead to 2-0.
- In the 58th minute, Lounsbury found the ball and launched a shot from the top of the box, sending it just over the crossbar.
- MIT scored their final goal in the 59th minute when Mia Sedgwick snuck the ball behind Small off a pass from teammate Zareno.
- In the 75th minute, the Cougars had another good look at the goal when junior Emma Tziachris fired the ball just over the keeper.
