Field Hockey Defeated By No. 6 Amherst

AMHERST, Mass.- Clark (2-7, 0-2 NEWMAC) fell to No. 6 Amherst (7-0) by an 8-0 margin in a non-conference game on Tuesday night from Hill Field.

Senior Grace Sawyer tied her career-high with 17 saves for the Cougars, while senior Erin Hayes and sophomore Greer McCarty both had shots on goal.

How it Happened

• Kat Mason got the Mammoths off to an early lead with a goal three minutes into the first.

• Amherst would go on to score two more goals in the first and Sawyer recorded six saves in the quarter,

• Sawyer made a trio of saves early in the second for the scarlet and white and recorded six total in the period.

•The purple and white would tack on a pair of goals in the second to take a 5-0 lead at the half and added another goal in the third as Sawyer added another five saves to her total.

• Late in the fourth quarter, Hayes fired a shot on goal that was saved and McCarty almost put one in the back of the net, but the Mammoths came up with a critical defensive save.

• D'Alleva scored a pair of goals in the fourth. Paige Dibiase earned an assist.

What's Next

The Cougars head out to take on Mount Holyoke on Saturday in NEWMAC play. The game starts at 12 p.m.
