WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (0-3) fell 8-0 to one of the top teams in the nation in No. 10 Williams (1-0) on Tuesday night from the Weston Athletic Complex.

Senior Grace Sawyer registered a game-high and a season-high 15 saves. First-year Autumn Golding and senior Kimberlie Asseng each recorded shots on goal in the match.

How it Happened

• Sawyer opened the match with a pair of saves within the first four minutes of action in which the Ephs put pressure on the Cougars backline.
• After Sawyer made another stop in the sixth minute off a shot from Faith Stineman, but Stineman followed up her own shot by putting the shot in the back of the goal and a few seconds later the Ephs extended the lead to 2-0.
• Sawyer recorded two more saves to end the first quarter and continued to keep Williams off the board with three more saves on close attempts early in the second to keep it a two-goal game.
• The Ephs went on to add two more goals over the final 10 minutes of the second as Sawyer ended the frame with four more saves and a total of 12 in the first half.
• Senior Emma Boland earned three penalty corners over a minute stretch, which led to shots on goal from Golding and Asseng that were stopped by Carson Stephenson, but the Ephs added two more goals.
• Sawyer posted three more saves to her total in the fourth, but Williams came away with the victory.

Clark will be back on the road for a non-conference contest on Saturday against Salve Regina beginning at 12:00 p.m.
