Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (14-3, 3-3 NEWMAC) fell 82-70 to Springfield (5-10, 3-3 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Blake Arena.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 6-2 lead with three's from sophomores Mikey O'Brien and Bruce Saintilus before Springfield took a 12-9 advantage despite another Saintilus three-pointer and a jumper from sophomore Donovan Price helped Clark pull within two at 16-14 with 7:52 left in the first half.
- Springfield then scored 13 of the next 15 points in the contest, before Saintilus scored Clark's final nine points of the first half and the Cougars trailed 34-27 after one half of play.
- Graduate student Tyler Davern made a three and a layup early in the second half and a jumper from Saintilus cut the deficit to 12 at 46-34 with 15:49 remaining.
- Sophomore Kolby Randolph accounted for Clark's next five points to get within 10, but Springfield then went on a 11-2 run with the Cougar basket coming from Saintilus to go up 60-41.
- Clark battled back with a 10-0 run led by a bucket from graduate student Matthew Waggett, a pair of Saintilus free throws, and a pair of three's from first-year Isaiah Taylor as Clark trailed 60-51 with 7:10 to go.
- Taylor connected on two more triples for Clark's next six points and a Davern three cut the deficit to 14 at 74-60 with 2:58 remaining.
- Taylor scored eight more points down the stretch and Davern made another layup, but Springfield was able to come away with an 82-70 win.

- Saintilus led the team with 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, which was his second double-double of the season.
- Taylor added 22 points and dished out six assists.
- Davern netted 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
