Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (6-9, 0-3 NEWMAC) dropped a conference game by a 79-60 margin to Smith (12-1, 3-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Ainsworth Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Hannah Favaloro netted Clark's first five points of the game with a layup and a three-pointer and senior Emily Sifferlen made a jumper, but Smith held a 23-9 win at the end of the first quarter.
- Sophomores Alaina Schatzabel and Jacqueline Faulise scored the first six points of the second quarter for the Cougars sparked by a Faulise triple and a Favaloro three-pointer pulled Clark within 12 at 30-18 with 3:56 left in the second quarter.
- Sophomore Emma Levesque netted the final five points of the second quarter for the Cougars, including a triple as Smith took a 36-23 win at the half.
- Smith opened the third quarter an 11-3 run with the Clark basket coming from Schatzabel and Favaloro added five more points before the end of the quarter as Smith led 63-38.
- Clark opened the fourth on a 16-5 run led by four points from Favaloro and buckets from Sifferlen, Levesque, Schatzabel, senior Cam Richey, and first-year Megan Swedberg before Smith ended the game with a 79-60 win.
